It was a Beautiful Journey #MPA

After completing my BSc in Botany from Tri-Chandra College, I enrolled in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at the Public Administration Campus, Balkhu.

Initially, I joined the program primarily to earn a degree, but over time, I found the classes very effective. Without a doubt, I became a regular student. One memorable moment was when I attended a class alone for the first time—it was the last day of the second semester before the Dashain vacation. Despite this, the class continued as scheduled.

My Dissertation Journey: From Proposal to Defense

The number of MPA students at the Public Administration Campus has been increasing every year. Most of my classmates were either public employees or Lok Sewa aspirants, which sparked my curiosity about the relevance of the MPA program for public employees. As a result, I decided to conduct my dissertation on the topic “Perception of Public Employees on the Value of the Master of Public Administration Program.”

After the final examination of the fourth semester of the MPA program, a one-week orientation program on Research Proposal and Dissertation Writing was organized. During the six days of orientation classes, we were trained on overall dissertation writing techniques, including topic selection, research methodology, data collection, and data analysis.

I regularly visited the Public Administration Campus for one week to collect data. At the same time, I also visited several public organizations. In total, I surveyed 180 respondents and conducted interviews with 12 respondents. During the data collection process, my teachers and colleagues provided valuable support and guidance, for which I am very grateful.

The most challenging part of the research was data analysis and interpretation. During this phase, I learned how to use SPSS software. While quantitative data analysis was relatively easier, analyzing qualitative data obtained from interviews was more complex and time-consuming.

Finally, I completed my dissertation under the supervision of Dr. Mukesh Kumar Bastola, sir. I successfully defended my dissertation on January 12, 2026.

Finally, my MPA journey comes to an end. These two years have been the most productive period of my academic life. The most beautiful moments of my MPA journey are:

47th Anniversary of Public Administration Campus:

A program was organized to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the Public Administration Campus. The main guest of the event was Madhav Prasad Regmi, Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, Nepal.

During the program, we also performed an inspirational drama titled ‘Let’s Talk about Mental Health.’ The main purpose of our drama was to raise awareness about mental health.

This was my first time performing a drama on stage, and it was truly a wonderful and memorable experience.

Participation in PAAN Talk:

March 27, 2023: In our first semester of the MPA program, we had the opportunity to attend the PAAN TALK as an audience. The program was organized by the Public Administration Association of Nepal (PAAN), and the main guest was Tankamani Sharma Dangal, the Honorable Auditor General of Nepal.

Parliamentary Draft Course:

May 20, 2023: It was organized by the National Federation of Students’ Parliament (विद्यार्थी संसद राष्ट्रिय महासंघ). Chief guests of the program were Mr. Indra Bilash Poudel and Kalpana Nepali (Minister of State for Health).

Participation:

Jul 8, 2024: There was a welcome and farewell program in our college. In this program, we were entertained with beautiful dancing and singing performances of MPA and BPA students. I also got an opportunity to recite a poem. It was a nice experience.

Picnic at Bhatte Danda, Lalitpur:

December 16, 2023: A picnic, organized by the MPA students in collaboration with the Free Students Union, was attended by 60 students and 6 teachers. The day was filled with fun and laughter as we danced, sang, played games, and enjoyed lively dohori performances.

Sharing Knowledge-Class Presentation:

Presentations were my favorite assignments in the MPA program. During these two years, I delivered class presentations on several topics, including: Significance of Human Resource Management in the 21st Century in the Context of Developing Countries like Nepal, Classification of Local Government, Resource Mobilization, Planning Process and its Challenges, Rationalism, Agenda Setting, and Administrative Tribunal. It enhanced my public speaking skills.

Chandragiri Hiking Adventure:

May 4, 2024: In the midst of our MPA journey, we went hiking at Chandragiri Hill to add some fun and create lasting memories. With vloggers, bloggers, filmmakers, actors, and photographers in our group, every moment of the trip was beautifully captured.

Spring Blossoms-Jacaranda Photoshoot:

May 8, 2023: It was spring, the season of Jacarandas. We visited Tribhuvan University to capture beautiful memories among the blooming Jacaranda mimosifolia trees.

Patan Durbar Square Visit:

September 17, 2024: It was the final day of our MPA third-semester examination, and we decided to refresh ourselves after completing the exams. Since our exam center was at Patan Multiple Campus, we visited Patan Durbar Square, the nearest and most popular destination.

Exploring Kirtipur:

April 12, 2023: It was New Year’s Eve, the last day of 2079. We visited Bagh Bhairab Temple, Uma Maheshwor Temple, and the Tinthana Suspension Bridge in Kirtipur.

Beyond gaining knowledge, the MPA program also provided me with a platform to explore myself. At last, thank you everyone for making my MPA journey enjoyable and memorable.
